Fire drill on Wednesday, 10th February

Beitragsseiten

Wednesday's fire drill was unpleasant for many due to the cold, drizzly
weather. We wanted to remind all parents
that since a fire drill may occur in any kind of weather, please be sure that
you provide enclosed, rubber-soled shoes for your child to wear indoors.

The staff put the safety of the children first, and must assume that
every drill is a potential fire. This means that there is no time to change
shoes or put on jackets. Keep in mind that students may not even be in their
home classrooms, but rather in a neighboring classroom, in music/art,
downstairs or at the gym.

Our school teachers evacuate all students as calmly and quickly as possible
and lead them to the Christian-Stock-Stadion in a certain amount of time to
meet safety requirements. Selected staff are also responsible to double check
all toilets (and in the gyms, the changing rooms) to make sure that no student
is left behind.

The entire student body/staff must wait at the Stadion until it is
confirmed that no fire/danger exists. The waiting time depends on the arrival
and “all clear” report of the fire brigades; regardless of whether a drill is
scheduled, or the alarm was triggered by accident or a prank.

We thank the teachers for maintaining the necessary calm and order
whilst leaving the building and especially the children, for their
understanding and cooperation; they did a great job following instructions on
Wednesday despite the weather!
