School start as of 19 April 2021

Dear Parents,

With reference to the letter from the Hessian Minister of Education of 12 April 2021, we would like to inform you about the decisions regarding the start of school on Monday, 19 April 2021.

Alternating days of school attendance
In the period from 19 April 2021 until 7 May 2021, all Primary children will continue to come to school on their alternating days. The setting will remain the same as before the holidays including Emergency Care and Supervision.

Emergency Care
In order to make the start of school as smooth as possible for everyone, the registrations for the Emergency Care groups will remain valid and continue to run as before the holidays. Registration is only necessary if your child was not yet registered for Emergency Care before the holidays.

SARS CoV-2 Rapid Antigen test
A new development is that testing is now compulsory for school attendance.
This means that only students who have a negative test can attend classes or Emergency Care. This test is conducted twice a week at school. (Depending on your child’s schedule, it will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays).
We would like to say a big thank you to the parents who volunteered to support the test procedure. Once the schedules are confirmed, we will get in touch with the parent helpers in order to organise their support.

We will need your consent to conduct the “Antigen Rapid Test” at school. Please put the signed consent form in your child's school bag. We will need it returned on the first day your child is back in school (for classes and Emergency Care respectively).

Alternatively, a negative test result of the “Antigen Rapid Test” from a test centre (i.e. pharmacy, GP) can be presented, which must not be older than 72 hours. Please note that rapid tests carried out at home cannot be accepted.

In case “pupils do not provide the school with verification of a negative test result and do not make use of the self-testing offer at school they must leave the school premises and will only be taught using distance learning. If you decide against a test, please de-register your child from face-to-face teaching in writing. In this case, your child will spend learning time at home and receive appropriate assignments from the school. However, you cannot expect the supervision by the teachers as in face-to-face teach-ing” (please see “Parents letter from the Hessian Ministry of Education of 12 April 2021”).

Lunch
Last but not least a brief update regarding lunch: Our caterer is still offering the lunch packages. Hot lunch is still not possible due to the additional Emergency Care groups.
In addition, we need to inform you that a change of caterer at the Schuldorf Berg-straße will take place in the near future. You will receive more details shortly.

We hope that you and your family had a restful holiday and wish everyone a good start to the coming school weeks.

Kind regards,
On behalf of the SISS Primary Team,
