On Wednesday 25th and Thursday 26th March 2026, we had a wonderful event taking place in our school: the Hasenschule opened its doors. Mrs Metzner and her DaZ classes in Years 3 and 4 organised a café in the DaZ classroom, inviting all Year 3 and Year 4 German classes to visit, taste, and experience it.
The Café was set up with a lovely Easter theme, just before the Easter holidays. Over two days, the project was carefully prepared and brought to life, with thoughtful attention to menus, decorations, and delicious snacks. It truly looked and felt like a real restaurant, and the pupils fully embraced their roles.
The aim was to practise German in a real-life setting, and the children actively used the language while ordering, serving and interacting with each other. Even those who are usually quieter in lessons participated enthusiastically and spoke German with confidence.
This idea brought the German language to life in a fun and engaging way, creating a memorable experience for everyone.

I found the Hasenschule Café very nice. It was decorated amazingly. There were floating flowers over every table. First, we got to order. I ordered a cheese roll. It was so yummy- crusty baked with a hint of cheese. Then there was dessert. I had a cookie bunny, which was also very delicious. The waiters were so kind; they said “thank you” and “please.” They served the food in not even two minutes.
We had fun practising German and eating the delicious meals. When it was time to go, we were all sad to leave. I really appreciate the time and hard work they put into it.

Ich fand das Hasenschule Café sehr schön. Ich würde sagen, es ist ein 4-Sterne Restaurant. Es war so lecker, besonders die Käseröllchen (mein Tipp). Es war auch sehr hübsch dekoriert und sehr gemütlich und sogar mit einer kleinen Vorspeise. Die Kellner waren sehr nett, und unser Kellner hat uns netterweise sogar vier Sachen gegeben statt nur drei. Die Bedienung hat auch sehr gut Deutsch gesprochen.

Ich fand das Hasenschule Café ganz toll, weil es sehr schön dekoriert war. Es gab schöne Musik und die Bedienung war super. Der Kellner war auch sehr nett.
Das Café war zwar klein, aber sehr schön und gemütlich. Die Kellner haben nicht immer Deutsch gesprochen, aber sie haben es probiert, und das fand ich sehr gut.
Ich habe es sehr gemocht. Es war auch sehr lustig, weil es Spielgeld gab.

First of all, the lights and decor were amazing. It was so colourful, like we were at a disco, but a little darker. To be honest, their German was amazing and very polite, and the food was nothing like I expected – it was even better. The cookies were also shaped like rabbits and butterflies. I would give it a 10/10. I really loved being there!

I found it very inviting when I entered. The lights were dimmed and the room was decorated. Every table had a menu. The children serving us were very kind and spoke German. They served the food on small plates and the drinks in small cups. We were asked a couple of times how we found the food. The reason behind it was to learn a bit more German for the DaZ class.

The Hasenschule Café was surprisingly good and the waitresses and waiters were very kind. The quality was also very good and the food and drinks were tasty even though I only had water as a drink. The found the cookies the best because they tasted a little bit like lemon and had icing on them. I would give it five stars.

The Hasenschule Café was so beautiful and a nice experience. The waiters and the waitresses were very kind. The food was so yummy and when you ordered, it took 10 seconds to come. My rating is 10 out of 10. They did a good job.

Das Hasenschule Café war sehr schön und das Essen war sehr lecker. Es gab Früchtetee, Plätzchen und Mini-Laugenbrötchen. Die Bedienungen waren sehr nett und höflich, und sie haben gut Deutsch gesprochen.
